The external links plugin for WordPress lets you process outgoing links differently from internal links.

Under Settings / External Links, you can configure the plugin to:

• Process all outgoing links, rather than only those within your entries' content.
• Add an external link icon to outgoing links. You can use a class="no_icon" attribute on links to override this.
• Open outgoing links in new windows. Note that this can damage your visitor's trust towards your site in that they can think your site used a pop-under.
• Add rel=nofollow to the links. You can use a rel="nofollow" attribute on links to override this.

There have been many new good ideas of fighting automated Spam in WordPress. Most of these Plugins (like the antecessor of NoSpamNX: Yawasp) change the name of one (or more) of your comment field. On the one hand, this is indeed more effective, but on the other hand, this goes to the expense of compatibility. Therefore, NoSpamNX does not change any of your comment fields, but still claims to be very effective.

Many Antispam Plugins focus on user interaction, e.g. captcha or Math calculations to defend you against automated comment spambots. Some use JavaScript and/or Sessions, check each comment against common spam phrases or modify your comment template. NoSpamNX intend to handle automated comment-spam without these measures. It does not require JavaScript, Cookies, Sessions or a Database. It does not change any of your comment template fields, given you full compatibility with other WordPress- or Browser Plugins.

NoSpamNX automaticly adds additional formfields to your comment form, invisible to human users. If a spambot fills these fields blindly (which 99.9% of all spambots do), the comment will not be saved. You can decide if you want to block these spambots or mark them as spam. Furthermore, you can put common spam-phrases on a blacklist.

The user must no longer fill out any additional fields in the comment form, and you can focus on blogging and your readers comments!

Requirements

Make sure your theme loads wp_head and comment_form according to the WordPress Codex (see http://is.gd/1lezf), otherwise NoSpamNX will not work properly!

The Auto Thickbox plugin for WordPress automatically enables thickbox on thumbnail images (i.e. opens the images in a fancy pop-up), through the use of WordPress' built-in thickbox library.

In the event you'd like to override this for an individual image, you can disable the behavior by adding the 'nothickbox' class to its anchor tag.

Thickbox Galleries

By default, the auto thickbox plugin will bind all images within a post into a single thickbox gallery. That is, next image and previous image links will appear so you can navigate from an image to the next.

The behavior is particularly interesting when you create galleries using WordPress' image uploader. Have the images link to the image file rather than the attachment's post, and you're done.

On occasion, you'll want to split a subset of images into a separate gallery. Auto Thickbox lets you do this as well: add an identical rel attribute to each anchor you'd like to group, and you're done.

(Note: To set the rel attribute using WordPress' image uploader, start by inserting the image into your post. Then, edit that image, browse its advanced settings, and set "Link Rel" in the Advanced Link Attributes.)

Thickbox Anything

Note that thickbox works on any link, not merely image links. To enable thickbox on an arbitrary link, set that link's class to thickbox.

No thickbox

In the event you want to disable thickbox on some links to images, assign it a nothickbox class.

Sometimes an RSS feed has a low bandwidth and during the page creation Wordpress has to wait after those RSS feeds had been downloaded. This plugin allows the site to read the RSS after the page was created, not during the process.

To show a Feed in a post use [lexi: configuration, rss, title, max_items] or lexiRSS($configuration, $rss, $title, $max_items).

The configuration number can be calculated as follows:

• Add 1 if you want to save it in cache.
• Add 2 if you want to show the content.
• Add 4 if you want to show the title (this is the channel link too).
• Add 8 if you want to open it in a new page.
• Add 16 if you want to not show the RSS icon (this is the RSS link too).
• Add 32 if you want to show the author.
• Add 64 if you want to show the date.
• Add 128 if you want to paginate the results.
• Add 256 to not show items title.
• Add 512 to show content in the reference title (usefull when using 3rd party rollover plugins).
• Add 1024 to use the internal function to truncate the content to the first complete paragraphs until having 400 letters. Only text, no images. See the FAQ for other truncate size.

If you want to use the title given by the RSS, use [lexi: configuration, rss, max_items] or lexiRSS($configuration, $rss, false, $max_items).

There is a button in the editor (the one with the RSS icon) created by the plugin to help you to add feeds in posts or pages.

Lexi detects if your site has the SimplePie library enabled. Since Wordpress 2.8 comes with it by default you don't need to activate anything, but in earlier versions you have to install the SimplePieCore Plugin to use it instead MagpieRSS. I recomend to use SimplePie. Remember to uninstall SimplePieCore if you are using Worpress 2.8 or any latter version.

Sidebar-Login has both a widget and a template tag to allow you to have a login form in the sidebar of your wordpress powered blog.

WPBook enables users to add your (self-hosted, not wordpress.com) wordpress blog as a Facebook application. Facebook users will see your posts in a Facebook look and feel, and can leave comments with their Facebook identity.

Comments are shared - meaning comments made by users on your blog at its regular domain and comments made by users inside Facebook are all shown to users of either "view" of your content.

Facebook users can also - at their option - add a profile tab to their profile, using the "add profile tab" button at the top of the default canvas page.

WPBook also post notifications automatically to your wall, or the wall of pages for which you are an admin, to which you've added the app, and for which you've granted stream publish permission, when you write a new post.

(This includes Application Profile pages and group walls, if you are an admin and have enabled fans to write on your walls).

Finally, WPBook can also import comments made on your wall (or the wall of a Fan page) in response to excerpts it has posted, and show those in your WordPress blog as full comments.

Role Scoper is a comprehensive access control solution, giving you CMS-like control of reading and editing permissions. Assign restrictions and roles to specific pages, posts or categories.

How it works:

Your WordPress core role definitions remain unchanged, and continue to function as default permissions. User access is altered only as you expand it by assigning content-specific roles, or reduce it by setting content-specific restrictions.

Users of any level can be elevated to read or edit content of your choice. Restricted content can be withheld from users lacking a content-specific role, regardless of their WP role. Deactivation or removal of Role Scoper will return each user to their standard WordPress access (but all RS settings remain harmlessly in the database in case you change your mind).

Scoped role restrictions and assignments are reflected in every aspect of the WordPress interface, from front end content and navigation to administrative post and comment totals. Hyper Cache is a new cache system for WordPress, specifically written for people which have their blogs on low resources hosting provider (cpu and mysql). It works even with hosting based on Microsoft IIS (just tuning the configuration).
