There are similar plugins but they did not provide the ease of use I wanted.

Creating columns is super easy, just include the column separator text in your page or post (by default /---/, configurable in the WP Column Settings page).

HTML code will be generated with various CSS classes so you can easily style the columns in your Stylesheet.

This plugin requires that you have curl on your webserver and that php has the curl module loaded. On a linux webserver you can find this out by typing the following at a command prompt (minus the quotes): * "php -i | grep curl"

For the module:

If you have all that, it's possible that if curlwrappers was not build into php that it will not work. This hasn't been verified yet and if anyone that does have this working could check their phpinfo() and notices that they don't have it enabled, let me know so we can confirm it.

If the last two options don't work, consult your hosting provider as your php.ini is in some none standard location.

Image zoomer is jQuery zooming tool. The plugin gives any image on your page the ability to be magnified when the mouse rolls over it. The square effect uses a “magnifying glass” that appears over the image lets the user zoom in to show close-up detail of the image.

Integrates with the WordPress registration process to assist with the registration process for other systems. Meaning, this plugin will simultaneously transmit the user's information entered in to your WordPress registration page to a URL you specify which can then handle creating a duplicate user account within your other systems on your website. This can be particularly useful when you use WordPress as your primary platform however use other systems such as a forum or eCommerce solution which would require the user to create another account before being able to use that system. You could also use this plugin to interface with third party email marketing systems, utilizing a custom script to send your own welcome messages, initiating custom sessions, or triggering external functions.

Version 1.0 is now enabled to work with BuddyPress sites allowing you to maintain the same functionality. Upon enabling the plugin, there will be a new set of options within the plugin administration panel allowing you to choose which fields are transmitted to the Transaction URL once a user completes the BuddyPress controlled registration page.

Version 1.1 introduced one new feature and an enhancement to an existing feature. The amount of delay that was previously experienced while waiting for the call to the Transaction URL was optimized to only add an additional second or two to the overall load time. As for new features, on BuddyPress installations the profile fields are also passed along. However, because of the dynamic nature of these fields there is not a feasible way to assign new names to them as they pass so they will maintain their original form names (i.e - field_1, field_2, etc... going down as an ordered list).

Version 1.2 further optimizes the methods by which the Transaction URL is called and respective form data passed. Because the plugin uses a POST method, the receiving server should be expecting a POST as well. A later version is planned to allow for the selection of either a GET or POST transaction. This version also confirms the ability to work with the infamous MailChimp mailing system. WP-Migrate allows users to enter database information separate from the current site/blog database, and migrate the current information over. It enables you to select what (if any) information to move over, and/or update the URL throughout the database to a new domain while keeping the seralized meta information intact.

NOTICE: This is a very developer-centric plugin and should not be used by anyone that is not comfortable working with database settings and entering connection information.

This is an early version and it is recommended that you run a test-deployment before migrating any information to a production database. Displaying Your Images in Your Theme

There are a few filters that you can use in your theme to display the image associations created by this plugin. Please read below for detailed information.

Display a single image representing the term archive

The following filter will display the image associated with the term asked for in the query string of the url. This filter only works in views that naturally use templates like category.php, tag.php taxonomy.php and all of their derivatives. Please read about template hierarchy for more information about these templates. The simplest use of this filter looks like:

print apply_filters( 'taxonomy-images-queried-term-image', '' );

This code will generate and print an image tag. It's output can be modifed by passig an optional third parameter to apply filters. This parameter is an array and the following keys may be set:

• after (string) - Text to append to the image's HTML.

• attr (array) - Key/value pairs representing the attributes of the img tag. Available options include: alt, class, src and title. This array will be passed as the fourth parameter to WordPress core function wp_get_attachment_image() without modification.

• before (string) - Text to prepend to the image's HTML.

• image_size (string) - May be any image size registered with WordPress. If no image size is specified, 'thumbnail' will be used as a default value. In the event that an unregistered size is specified, this filter will return an empty string.

Here's an example of what a fully customized version of this filter might look like:

You can specify the size of the image in an option third parameter:

If you need data about the image, you may want to use:

List term images associated with a post object

When a post is being displayed you may want to display all of the images associated with all of the terms that are associated with the post (a mouthful? Yes indeed!). The taxonomy-images-list-the-terms filter does this. Here's what it looks like in its simplest form:

print apply_filters( 'taxonomy-images-list-the-terms', '' );

This filter accepts an optional third parameter that you can use to customize its output. It is an array which recognizes the following keys:

• after (string) - Text to append to the output. Default value is a closing unordered list element.

• after_image (string) - Text to append to each image. Default value is a closing list-item element.

• before (string) - Text to prepend to the output. Default value is an open unordered list element with an class attribute of "taxonomy-images-the-terms".

• before_image (string) - Text to prepend to each image. Default value is an open list-item element.

• image_size (string) - Any registered image size. Values will vary from installation to installation. Image sizes defined in core include: "thumbnail", "medium" and "large". "Fullsize" may also be used to get the unmodified image that was uploaded. Defaults to "thumbnail".

• post_id (int) - The post to retrieve terms from. Defaults to the ID property of the global $post object.

• taxonomy (string) - Name of a registered taxonomy to return terms from. Defaults to "category".

Here's an example of what a fully customized version of this filter might look like:

Working with all terms of a given taxonomy

You will want to use the 'taxonomy-images-get-terms' filter. This filter is basically a wrapper for WordPress core function get_terms(). It will return an array of enhanced term objects: each term object will have a custom property named image_id which is an integer representing the database ID of the image associated with the term. This filter can be used to create custom lists of terms. Here's what it's default useage looks like:

$terms = apply_filters( 'taxonomy-images-get-terms', '' );

Here is what php's print_r() function may return:

As you can see, all of the goodness of get_terms() is there with an added bonus: the image_id parameter!

This filter recognizes an optional third parameter which is an array of arguments that can be used to modify its output:

• cache_images (bool) If this value is true all assocaite images will be queried for and cached for later use in various template tags. If it is set to false, this query will be suppressed. Do not set this value to false unless you have a really good reason for doing so :) Default value is true.

• having_images (bool) If this value is true then only terms that have associated images will be returned. Setting it to false will return all terms. Default value is true.

• taxonomy (string) Name of a registered taxonomy to return terms from. Multiple taxonomies may be specified by separating each name by a comma. Defaults to "category".

• term_args (array) Arguments to pass to get_terms() as the second parameter. Default value is an empty array.

Here's and example of a simple custom loop that you can make to display all term images:

Dottoro Highlighter plugin is based on the Dottoro Syntax Highlighter service that provides professional coloring for CSS, HTML, JavaScript and XML languages. Using of the Dottoro Highlighter plugin is really simple. Just insert your code snippet in the Visual or HTML view, select it and press the Dr-Highlight button on the toolbar. • attachment – attachment page URL (works only if page is attached to a post)
• full – full-size image URL

• empty value means no link

You can mix these values up too. For example, you can use a sequence like this: post_parent, thickbox. If an image is attached to some post it uses a link to this post, otherwise it uses a Thickbox-dependent link.

WP-MalWatch is a WordPress security plugin scanner designed to help alert you when hackers have been at work inside your blog.

When hackers infiltrate a blog, the first thing they do is plant hidden files, disguised .PHP, and malicious .HTACCESS files in various directores. Their goal is to litter your WordPress installation and theme with links to their sites.

WP-MalWatch performs a security scan of your WordPress installation nightly looking for evidence of foul play and if WP-MalWatch finds it, a dashboard widget will tell you were you should take a closer look. WP-MalWatch's detailed report also provides you a very easy interface for looking at the contents of these files right from within WordPress so you don't have to get into messy FTP clients and editors looking at potential problems.

Version 2.1.2 of WP-MalWatch is based on 2.0.2 which was a complete rewrite of the original WP-MalWatch plugin and provides efficient malware scanning. Version 2.1.2 looks for hidden files, HTACCESS files, configurable file patterns, keywords in theme files, encode 64 calls in key WordPress files, and .PHP files in the uploads directory.

Does WP-MalWatch protect your blog?

NO! WP-MalWatch is a scanning plugin that allows a blogger to easily identify the presence of files in a blog installation and provides a simple viewer for examining them.

If WP-MalWatch finds files in my blog, does it mean I have a problem?

Not necessarily but it does mean you need to take a look at them. The plugin has several links to explanations of what WP-MalWatch is looking for. Any file that WP-MalWatch reports, you should look at and be comfortable that it is there for a purpose.

Why PHP files in the uploads directory? Because they shouldn't be there and are clear evidence of foul play.

What are configurable file patterns?

Hackers love to drop multiple extension files into a blog hoping that you won't notice them. The default setting for WP-MalWatch are the file extension patterns for the somewhat clever "pharma attack". These include patterns like *.old.php and *.bak.php. You can configure these for whatever you are looking for.

Why .HTACCESS files? .HTACCESS files are specific for UNIX and you will generally have one at the root of your website. WordPress actually uses this file for things like Permalinks. Hackers love to drop .HTACCESS files into other parts of your WordPress installation to do malicious things such as implement 301 redirects to trick users or even search engines. Still, some plugins use .HTACCESS files for their functionality. That doesn't mean that a hacker can't get into those. If you have more than one .HTACCESS file in your installation, you'll want to take a look at it and ensure that there are no redirects to sites you aren't aware of.

Will WP-MalWatch scans impact the performance of my blog?

We tested WP-MalWatch on one of our blogs while there were over 2,000 active users online. We were impressed with its performance and the fact that it didn't impact server performance. If you see something different with your hosting, report it to us but we can assure you we paid close attention to the efficiency of scanning in this plugin.

This plugin allows the author to exclude certain posts from archive, tag, search and home page listings. Authors can also exclude posts to appear ONLY to logged in users, thereby forcing membership. In situation a, the post is not displayed (direct url will show a 404), and it is not listed in the menus, (unless you have a different plugin/template scheme that will override wp filters).

In situation b, the post will be replaced with a customized message (admin->tools) like 'Sorry, this content is available to logged in users only'. The links to the protected content will be visible.

This plugin is designed to be customized by the end user. The code is simple and heavily documented, and uses only WordPress functions. You should be using WP version 2.7 or greater for this plugin to work properly.

Response Tracker is a plugin for WordPress that lets bloggers keep track of comments on their posts by marking them as todo, replied, or ignored, in Comments Administration page in the admin dashboard. On the comments administration page, the plugin paints each comment block with a colour that either indicates the status set by the author (if any) or provides a hint on what the status might be (read below for an explication).

• Adds options to the Comments Admin page actions, for each comment, to mark it as Todo, Replied, or Ignore.
• Comment blocks are given a background colour based on their actual or guessed state (default = todo).
• Comments with a response from the post author are background coloured to indicate that.
• Comments by post authors are automatically coloured ignored (though not marked so).
• When new comments are added their parent (if any) is marked as responded if the response is by the post author.
• A bulk mark option/link in the plugin admin page lets you automatically flag existing comments as responded to by author — this has to be used with care of course, in case your blog has thousands of comments. Mine has hundreds and that went through pretty quick.

A word of explanation is called for with regard to Response Tracker’s logic of highlighting comments, since it can be (and probably is!) confusing.

Response Tracker colours each comment block in the Comments Administration page with a colour that says something about the status of that comment. The plugin also colours and highlights the action option (todo, replied or ignore) that indicates the current choice.

Where the user (author or blog admin) has explicitly clicked on one of these actions and made a choice, the highlighted action and the background colour of the comment block coincide in what they indicate. If the author (or blog admin) had previously clicked on the option replied for a comment, then this action link is highlighted and the comment block is coloured accordingly (see the plugin admin/settings page for a legend for the colours).

For comments for which the user has not yet made a selection among the options (todo, ignore or replied), Response Tracker marks always marks the comment with status todo, but also tries to make a guess on what the comment’s real status might be. If the comment is by the post author, then the plugin guesses that the comment can be ignore_d. If the comment was responded to by the post author, then Response Tracker guesses that the status may be responded (the reason to differentiate between a guess of _responded and a status of replied is that you, the blogger, might respond to a comment but want to retain it’s todo status because you want to add more details in a later response). The guess is then used to colour the comment block.

This is the reason for the otherwise puzzling nature of the colour highlighting and the action/option highlighting. Any good user interface should not require this much explication! In a later release, an attempt will be made to clear this up a bit while still retaining some of the logic.

You may wonder why go to all this trouble? The threaded view of comments in the post page gives simple visual cues on what comments have been replied to and which ones are pending a response. Why not just use that to keep track of comment status? I have at least two reasons to prefer using the Comments Adminstration page for managing responses:

• The Comment Administration page posts replies via AJAX, thus making it easier to mark or respond quickly to a large set of comments. There are AJAX commenting plugins for posts, but in my experience none of them quite do the trick, or if they do, they do so at the cost of messing up the look and feel of the theme in use.

• The Comment Administration page can list all comments, not just ones related to a particular post, and sorted descending by date. A good way to scan latest comments, respond to them and mark them.

Additionally, the plugin also provides a mechanism for marking comments that can be ignored, and since it explicitly marks a comment with a status, it makes it possible to mark multiple comments in a single response and mark all the relevant comments as replied.

Another possible line of future development is to also add links in the post comments section to let authors mark comments from post pages.

This plugin lets use a different theme for any Post or Page. You can create a Custom Field that contains a theme name on one or more Posts or Pages and this plugin will switch Wordpress to use that theme for only those Posts or Pages.

Example of setting theme for one Post:

1. Upload the theme you want to use for your post - let's say it's called 'coolstuff'.
2. Write your post.
3. Add a Custom Field to the post called 'themeperpost' and give it a value of 'coolstuff' (not including the quotes).
4. Save your post.

If you are creating a small custom theme purely to style a Post or Page then you do not need to create many files within the theme. For styling a Post you only need a file in your theme directory called 'single.php', for styling a Page you only need 'page.php - this fits with the standard Wordpress file names for themes. There's an example theme at http://www.steveify.com/themeperpost/.

If you want to use an existing theme with this plugin then you will unfortunately have to make a few small changes to the theme before it will work. The changes are:

1. Replace get_header() call with themeperpost_get_header().
2. Replace get_sidebar() call with themeperpost_get_sidebar().
3. Replace get_footer() call with themeperpost_get_footer().

This plugin will let you enter your twitter username and every 5 minutes will download your latest Twitter status and then show it as the blogs sub-heading. Please not that you must have a... <?php bloginfo('description'); ?> in your themes header file before this plugin will work.

This plugin is extremely simple, in fact the entire plugin itself is under 100 lines of code. Once you add the administration panel then the code lines goes up to about 200. This plugin is entirely secure as it gets no data from a any user of your blog. For example the only input that this plugin takes is the Twitter username that you want to get the latest status of. This plugin does not need you password and so makes it even more secure. As I said above I did have to limit the amount of calls to the twitter API. You can of course change this from the administration panel, It is possible to put it to update every minute however in cases that the Twitter server load is high then they restrict the amount of API calls to sometimes as low as 30 per hour. If you leave it at 5 then you are pretty much guarenteed that this plugin will be able to access this API 99.99% of the time (barring the situation that the Twitter server is down).

This is a simple plugin to put the <!--nextpage--> buttons back in the WordPress editor Toolbars.

The only caveat to using this plugin is that it uses functionality that has been in the WordPress core but hidden since the NextPage button was removed not long ago. All the functionality for handling the <!--nextpage--> tag via the editor toolbar is there in the WordPress core. Well, it is different in that it provides one new way to display the tags: cloudily.

The usual format is for tags with a smaller post count to have a smaller font size and larger counts a larger font size. Cloudy Tags still allows that, but it adds the property of cloudiness. So tags with smaller post counts are cloudier and larger counts are clearer or sharper.

The Looser Search Plugin modifies the way the built-in WordPress search finds posts and pages. It counts matches on key words rather than forcing an exact match of all words. It will almost always get a match on something and shows best matches first. Common English words are eliminated from the search to prevent too many inappropriate matches. Web Invoice lets WordPress and WordPress MU blog owners send itemized invoices to their clients. This plugin is used to be able to create a page on your web site that will contain a list of all of the link categories that you have defined inside of the Links section of the Wordpress administration, along with all links defined in these categories. The user can select a sub-set of categories to be displayed or not displayed. Link Library also offers a mode where only one category is shown at a time, using AJAX or HTML Get queries to load other categories based on user input. It can display a search box and find results based on queries. It can also display a form to accept user submissions and allow the site administrator to moderate them before listing the new entries. Finally, it can generate an RSS feed for your link collection so that people can be aware of additions to your link library.

For links that carry RSS feed information, Link Library can display a preview of the latest feed items inline with the all links or in a separate preview window.

This plugin uses the filter method to add contents to the pages. It also contains a configuration page under the admin tools to be able to configure all outputs. This page allows for an unlimited number of different configurations to be created to display links on different pages of a Wordpress site.

This plugin adds cropping, resizing, and rotating functionality to Wordpress' image upload and management dialogs. Scissors also allows automatic resizing of images when they are uploaded and supports automatic and manual watermarking of images. Quick Shop supports any Wordpress that has the Sidebar Widgets installed, really. It adds a SideBar widget that shows the user what

they currently have in the cart and allows them to remove the items, not to mention a TinyMCE button to easily allow you to add products to your posts/pages.

Also, you will need to make your own CSS for this. I've included enough classes/ids for you.

One of my clients required a quick and dirty shopping cart for Wordpress. The background:

1. They had more than one product per post

2. They only wanted orders to be sent via email

3. They only needed EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer - like Direct Debit or Internet Banking)

Thus, Quick Shop was born thanks to the excellent way in which the Wordpress Plugin API is set up.
