Bulk Image Resize Utility (2009-11-27)
Bulk Image Resize Utility offers WordPress users a method of updating all of their images at once after changes have been made to the Media Upload set [read full description]Bulk Image Resize Utility offers WordPress users a method of updating all of their images at once after changes have been made to the Media Upload settings.
Usage
After this plugin has been successfully installed, you will notice a new link under "Media" in your Admin Menu. This link is called "Scan Images". Click this link and then click the "Start Scan" button. This will scan every single image attachment on your WordPress installation. Report items with a green header are in "Perfect Condition" while items with a red background are incorrect and may or may not be resizable by WordPress. Please read the notices for details.
Why make this plugin?
WordPress 2.9 has included "post images" into the core, which if turned on, will allow users to associate any attachment to any post to be displayed in the loop on any theme page they choose. Older blogs, like mine, have images that were uploaded before WordPress started creating 3 intermediate images per attachment. A user with and older blog can back-resize all of their images in a few minutes rather than few hours.
More times than not, beginners will install their blog and upload images without adjusting the size in Media -Upload. After a while, they figure out about these options and set them to their tastes. If they want all of their images to match, they will have to re-upload to re-size.
Disclaimer
Currently, this plugin is in the Beta stages and SHOULD NOT be deployed on live sites. The download link is provided for testing purposes only. If you are interested in aiding in the development of this plugin, please feel free to download and and post your comments below.
If, however, you really want to use this plugin and have your heart set on deploying it on a live server. Please delete it after you are done.

Online Leaf (2009-12-28)
Integrates a standby engine to reduce the energy required to view the website when the visitors are inactive, to make your blog a Green Website. [read full description]Because Internet browsing consumes a lot of energy on a global level, Online Leaf develops methods to reduce the amount of energy required to browse the internet, by making websites greener.
The plugin
This plugin enables your blog to install a green standby engine on your blog. The engine will automatically activate a dark screen when your visitors are inactive, which darkens the colors and hides animations and effects, so that the monitors do not waste energy generating those and simply because dark colors, on many monitors, require less energy to display than brighter ones.
The goal
Online Leaf aims to reduce the overall CO2 emissions from displaying websites, without any loss of visitor experience. You can still use visual effects, animations and heavy graphics to improve your website's overall quality, since the standby engine does not conflict with any of those (as it is only activated when your visitors are inactive). The only change is that your blog will be a Green Website and help in making the web a much greener place to surf.
CO2 neutralized
The usage of Online Leaf is CO2 neutralized, by acquiring CO2 quotas, which are cleared with the state authorities in EU. Please read more about CO2 neutralized websites if you are interested.

AmR iCal Events List (2010-09-09)
Display highly customisable and styleable list of events from iCal sources. [read full description]Encourage viewers to bookmark your events on their calendars. This plugin offers a thorough Ical calendar parser - copes with all the ical recurrence possibilities, and a large part of the rest of the spec.
This free version accepts one or many ical urls for ics files. It produces a very stylable list of events, notes, todo's or freebusy info. If you want a complete "inhouse" solution where you can create events in wordpress with multiple event classification options, and produce your own ics feeds from those, please see amr-events. amr-events is an extension of this plugin and will use any configuration from it.
Displays events from multiple calendars in out the box or with customised grouping, formatting and styling. Multiple pages or post or widget or both.
Lots of css hooks to style it the way you want. - Generate multiple css tags including for hcalendar miccroformat support.
List upcoming recurring or single events, notes, journal, freebusy information from many ical feeds. Offers a range of defaults and customisation options.
Group events by month/week/day or many other for presentation and styling. Offers your viewers the option to subscribe or add the events or the whole calendar to their calendars (google or other).
NB: Plugin requires php 5 >= 5.2, and the php DATETIME Class enabled (this is standard in php 5.2). You may get a parse error, something like "syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in...." if you are not on a version of PHP that has the "clone" function.
Test with your calendar's ics file at the demo site:
Demo site or see a language implementation at a German language demo
Many thanks to the following people for the translations. Note that I am unable to verify these and they may be out of date with the current version.:

- German by Simon Betschmann
- Belorussian by iam from http://www.fatcow.com
- Russian (partial) by ghost from http://antsar.info/
- Hindi translation by Ashish J. of Outshine solutions
- Afrikaans (partial)
If anyone would like to offer some translations, please do. The Code Styling Localisation Plugin is very useful for this. PLease send me the .po files for your language.
Content
- If the information is available in your calendar, include additional fields and/or add some bling: .. links to google maps if location or geo exists, "add event" icons or "add calendar" (not just the icsfile) to help clients remember your events! Add calendar is by individual event, or subscribe to the whoel calendar.
- Include other calendars for your viewers info. Many are available on the web and can be "sorted" into your calendar: public holidays, world events, school terms, eccentric dates etc.
- Will handle any html in the text fields, including image links.
- Allocate fields to columns and order within the columns and use css for example to float end time up next to start time.
- Offers a refresh link with date and time last cached - may be useful if your calendar has many updates on one day a week, with long gaps inbetween. Prevents unnecessary downloads.
- Optionally choose timezone.
- Add your own before/after content or styling (eg: SUMMARY as h3 ) for each field.
Styling
- Works out the box with a default css style as well as many other possibilities:
- Allows grouping of events (eg: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, by seasons, by years for readability and styling.
- Default basic css provided, plus lots of css tags for innovative styling (eg: by future/past/today, group of dates, or for recurring events, or untimed (all day) events.
- A default set of transparent(for different backgrounds) images is provided for the additional "icon" fields.
- In the before and after options for each field, use following tags only : <p> <br /> <hr /> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <strong> < em> <address>.
- These tags along with the possibility of having your own plugin css file should be more than adequate for your styling needs.
Date, Times and Timezone
- Note: wordpress 2.8 up now allows the timezone to be specified by city which should cater for daylight saving differences. Please check very carefully that times are correct and that you understand what the times should be.
- Timezones - there is your server's timezone, the timezone of the calendar files, and your wordpress timezone. The plugin will try for the timezone string (either from wordpress 2.8 or the automatic timezone plugin. Failing that it wiull try for gmt_offset, and attempt to convert it to a timezone string. Failing that it will use UTC time. If anyone needs more sophisticated functionality such as allowing a selection of timezones, please contact me.
Testing
- Can pass URL's, Listtypes and nocache/debug options via the url query string for ease of testing. see plugin homepage for examples.
Some special logic
- Generate any special display situations such as:
* If event is all day, remove start time, set css class * If start time equals end time, set end time to empty string * If end date = start date, don't display end date * If url in text, convert to a hyperlink * If location or geo exists and map requested, add a map link to google maps. Include the calendar location if the location text is short, to help google find it. * Allow html in descriptions, and convert any url's to links if not already converted.

Greg's High Performance SEO (2010-06-24)
Configure over 100 separate on-page SEO characteristics. Load just 600 lines of code per page view. No junk: just high performance SEO at its best. [read full description]New in This Version
- Better workaround for WordPress 3.0's problems initialising plugins properly under multisite
For more details on what's new in the latest main release, version 1.4, please see the update announcement: WordPress Plugins Get Performance Boost
Introduction
WordPress SEO plugins have been done before, but never like this.
Offering direct control over more than 100 separate on-page characteristics important for SEO, while loading fewer than 700 lines of code for each ordinary page view and playing nicely with other plugins, this plugin has been designed from the ground up for performance and compatibility. (By contrast, the most popular SEO plugin configures only around 20 characteristics, demands more than 2000 lines of code for each page view, and employs crude output buffer hacks which can sap performance and trample on many other plugins.)
This plugin is intended for anyone who wants to help search engines find their material: it's not just for professional marketers, it's not just for those who make their living via the web, and it's certainly not only for developers or full-time settings tweakers.
Should You Even Use an SEO Plugin?
It's no secret that for years, most SEO professionals have recommended against plugins for any kind of serious WordPress SEO. While fine for 'casual' use, up until now plugins have been unable to compete with bespoke program logic and extensive manual theme integration for flexibility, completeness, performance and scalability.
Greg's High Performance SEO now offers to everyone the kinds of benefits previously available only to those willing to invest in expensive bespoke coding and extensively hand modified themes.
The plugin will help you to leverage the built-in capabilities of WordPress -- which is already a semi-decent SEO platform right out the box -- by taking important content and meta-content that would otherwise not be included on the page and making it visible and useful to humans and machines alike. This is not automatic: it will take a little effort on your part. (Genuine SEO is never automatic.) But this plugin is designed to provide a sufficiently rich palette of tools that optimizing your site as it grows can become second nature to you.
To help with that, in addition to extensive inline explanations for each of its over 100 separate settings, Greg's High Performance SEO also includes a detailed 5000-word usage guide and introduction to WordPress SEO. So you'll never be left in the dark as to what on Earth a particular setting should or could be used for.
Although this plugin is not supported by the author in the WPMU (WordPress Multiuser) environment, independent testing by our community of users confirms that it is fully compatible with the WPMU platform.
What Can You Do With Greg's High Performance SEO Plugin?
This plugin enables you to configure several important SEO characteristics in each of these five areas:
- Main title
- Head section: description, keywords, robots indexing and following instructions, canonical URLs
- Secondary title, visible in the page body
- Secondary description, visible in the page body
- Paged comments and duplicate content
(Greg's High Performance SEO focuses exhaustively and exclusively on genuine SEO characteristics, so if you want something to fix the coffee or insert your ad code, you'll need a different plugin for that.)
The full set of SEO characteristics can be configured for each of the following types of output:
- Home page
- Posts
- Pages
- Paged comments
- Tag archives (including support for the tag descriptions introduced in WordPress 2.8)
- Author archives
- Category archives
- Search results
- 404 page (irrelevant to SEO but helpful to site visitors)
The plugin provides configurable additions for the Post and Page writing and editing screens, as well as for the Dashboard's QuickPress feature. All writing and editing additions can be restricted so that only contributors authorized to publish posts can use them.
Automatic Conflict Checker
A built-in conflict checker will let you know if it detects that other plugins may be using output buffering hacks that can interfere with your SEO preferences.
Support for Legacy SEO Plugins
Greg's High Performance SEO also provides built-in support for titles and keywords left behind by alternative SEO and other legacy plugins such as:
- All in One SEO Pack
- Autometa
- HeadMeta
- Headspace
- Platinum SEO
- SEO Title Tags

All the transitions happen inline without having to navigate to multiple Wordpress attachment pages. This plugin comes with different design options, which you can select on the Photo Galleria Settings page. Pretty neat, eh?

xili floom slideshow (2009-12-05)
xili-floom-slideshow integrates the floom slideshow in wordpress theme. [read full description]xili-floom-slideshow integrates the Floom slideshow in wordpress theme.
Floom slideshow designed by Oskar Krawczyk under MIT license is wonderful and amazing. For integration inside wordpress, it can be awesome ! xili-floom-slideshow tries to install it automatically but also allows personalizations.
How it works ?
xili-floom-slideshow inserts the javascript and css file inside the header of the theme. The images attached (but not inserted) to a post (or a page) are listed for the slideshow. And after adding a [xilifloom] shortcode inside the content of the post, the slideshow of the images of the gallery are automatically displayed.
With the dashboard Settings page, it is possible to change some properties of the slideshow without changing the original javascript: by example, number of vertical 'venitian' blinds, speed, progress bar, visible captions, and more.
Some properties can be attached to one post by using custom fields.
0.9.3
Tested with WordPress 3.0 both on monosite as here and multisite as there
Gold parameters added : ready to integrate a new child class of Floom see this post. Open to better events exchanged with theme UI. More modularity and possibility of setting. (Gold options are reserved for theme designer and webmaster with sufficient knowledge in php, js,...)
CAUTION: after upgrading, if floom_subname is used in custom fields of some posts, to retrieve the images series, the wildcard must be wrapped with one or two chars '%' as in LIKE of sql query.
0.9.2
- add for pictures order by menu_order. If order is set in gallery linked to a post, displayed series is ordered by these numbers ascendant.
- more parameters.
- add hooks and filters : to allow better selection of floom values and choice of series of images (not necessary attached to a post) according the theme or cms architecture, two filters was added :
xili_floom_get_valuesandxili_floom_get_imagesinsertable in functions insidefunctions.phpof the current theme. Very useful to personalize header according place inside the site architecture. example
prerequisite
- Minimun knowledges in Wordpress architecture (and css).
- If others plugins use mootools, some modifications must be done through a added function named
xilifloom_theme_header()inside functions.php. - Images for a slideshow must be selected with great precaution. (Same size adapted to the frame)

Raw HTML (2010-06-27)
Lets you use raw HTML or any other code in your posts. You can also disable smart quotes and other automatic formatting on a per-post basis. [read full description]This plugin lets you use raw HTML or any other code in your posts. One way to use it is to wrap a part of your post in special tags (below) to prevent WordPress from converting newlines to HTML paragraphs, escaping apostrophes and so on. This is very useful if you need to add a CSS block or JavaScript to your post.
RawHTML will also add some new checkboxes to the "Edit" screen that let you disable certain WP filters on a per-post basis. This way you can :
- Disable wptexturize (this filter creates smart quotes and other typographic characters).
- Disable automatic paragraph creation.
- Disable image smilies.
- Disable convert_chars (this filter converts ampersands to HTML entities and "fixes" some Unicode characters).
Using the plugin
To prevent a part of your post or page from being filtered by WordPress, wrap it in <!--start_raw-->...<!--end_raw--> or [RAW]...[/RAW] tags. These two versions work exactly the same, but the latter may be handy if you're using the visual editor (not recommended).
Example :
<!--start_raw-->
This
is
a 'test'!
<!--end_raw-->
Notes
- I strongly recommend to turn off the visual editor when you want to edit a post that contains raw HTML/JS/CSS.
- Personally, I prefer the
<!--start_raw-->...<!--end_raw-->syntax. These tags are formed as HTML comments, which means they won't be visible to your visitors even if you deactivate the Raw HTML plugin. On the other hand. the[RAW]...[/RAW]tags would show up.

Suggest new features and improvements here
Basic Usage
Once installed, the plugin will begin parsing your posts, bookmarks (AKA blogroll) and other content and looking for links. Depending on the size of your site this can take from a few minutes up to an hour or more. When parsing is complete, the plugin will start checking each link to see if it works. Again, how long this takes depends on how big your site is and how many links there are. You can monitor the progress and tweak various link checking options in Settings -> Link Checker.
The broken links, if any are found, will show up in a new tab of the WP admin panel - Tools -> Broken Links. A notification will also appear in the "Broken Link Checker" widget on the Dashboard. To save display space, you can keep the widget closed and configure it to expand automatically when problematic links are detected. E-mail notifications need to be enabled separately (in Settings -> Link Checker).
The "Broken Links" tab will by default display a list of broken links that have been detected so far. However, you can use the links on that page to view redirects or see a listing of all links - working or not - instead. You can also create new link filters by performing a search and clicking the "Create Custom Filter" button. For example, this can be used to create a filter that only shows comment links.
There are several actions associated with each link. They show up when you move your mouse over to one of the links listed the aforementioned tab -
- "Edit URL" lets you change the URL of that link. If the link is present in more than one place (e.g. both in a post and in the blogroll), all occurrences of that URL will be changed.
- "Unlink" removes the link but leaves the link text intact.
- "Not broken" lets you manually mark a "broken" link as working. This is useful if you know it was incorrectly detected as broken due to a network glitch or a bug. The marked link will still be checked periodically, but the plugin won't consider it broken unless it gets a new result.
You can also click on the contents of the "Status" or "Link Text" columns to get more info about the status of each link.

Under Settings / External Links, you can configure the plugin to:
- Process all outgoing links, rather than only those within your entries' content.
- Add an external link icon to outgoing links. You can use a class="no_icon" attribute on links to override this.
- Open outgoing links in new windows. Note that this can damage your visitor's trust towards your site in that they can think your site used a pop-under.
- Add rel=nofollow to the links. You can use a rel="nofollow" attribute on links to override this.

If you're tired of moderating readers' comments on your blog, stop doing that and let your readers decide which comment deserves to be shown. If you're getting outrageous comments on your blog, don't get too angry yet. Let's see how many readers feel the same. You can do these tasks (and more) with the Comment Rating plugin.
Comment Rating makes "user moderated content" possible. This plugin automatically embeds clickable images in comments using simple AJAX javascript (no heavy jQuery) to allow visitors rate comments in Like vs. Dislike fashion. The votes are displayed along with the comments in either two numbers, one combined, or both.
Once the user ratings are in place, the comments can be displayed and styled accordingly. Poorly rated comments (too many Dislikes, not enough Likes) can be hidden in a click-to-see link, just like those on Digg. Highly-rated comments (a lot Likes and few Dislikes) can be highlighted. Hotly-debated comments (many Likes and Dislikes) can also be highlighted to draw more attention, to encourage more votes and comments.
The thresholds for all three types of comments are configurable. So are the styling. Styling can be done with background color, opacity, fonts, etc. on the comment as well as the entire comment box.
This plugin allows using Wordpress as a general CMS in a Web 2.0 fashion. User generated content can be rated and their display influnced by other users. An example website is Caption Wit.
Summary of key features;
There's also a Pro version which has all the functionality of the standard version, and the following features.
More details about the Comment Rating Pro and how to obtain it can be found here.
Comment Rating plugin is built on top of Alex Bailey's discontinued Comment Karma. Thanks to Jean-Paul Horn and many other users for ideas and suggestions.
