Directory Submitting
Probably the most of you never paid for inclusion in an online directory, and some of you know the benefits of the best ones available on the internet. With directory submitting quality is the most important factor, not quantity. Don’t bother using directory submitting software or hiring a service who does submit your site to 5000 directories for $39,95, it’s not worth it. The quality directories which are the most authorative, have the most (quality) traffic, a high pagerank (also on inside pages!), a lot of incoming links and ofcourse some nice linkjuice are almost always the ones you have to pay for.
If you check the backlink profile of your competitors using Yahoo Site Explorer or a professional tool like SEO Spyglass you will notice most of the times these quality directories appear in their backlink profiles. Submitting to one or more of these paid directories doesn’t guarantee you a number #1 position for a very popular keyword, but it gives a good signal to the searchengines about the quality of your website. If you have launched a new website or blog it also is a great step forward to a good ranking. Let’s check out the most important paid directories :
Yahoo! – The Yahoo! directory is one of the most well known directories that most professional websites will have included themselves in. An inclusion in the Yahoo directory gives you a very juicy dofollow link, one you shouldn’t miss ! The price for a review into the directory is $299.00 (recurring yearly).
Business.com – The Business.com directory is a very important one if you’re running a business, it’s over 10 years old, a very authorative and powerful backlink, and you can also expect some quality traffic from this one. The price for Business.com is $299.00 (recurring yearly).
Best Of The Web (BOTW) – This directory is a very old (16 years!) and authorative one. You can submit your website to the BOTW directory for a yearly recurring fee of $149.95, or a one time fee of $299.95. If you have a blog this directory you should submit it as it’s very cheap, just $75.00 for the blog directory.
JoeAnt.com – The JoeAnt directory is an old established directory with a lot of quality traffic and authority. A directory listing is only $39.99 (one time fee), which is a very good deal for the value you get.
Directory Journal – Directory Journal is a very strong directory backed with a load of quality backlinks and high internal PageRanks (see also this majesticseo report). Another big advantage is that along with the homepage link you get up to 3 deep links, all for $159.99 (one time fee).
Massive Links Directory – The Massive Links Directory is a nice web directory where you get 4 deeplinks together with your listing. Internal pagerank is not so strong as the other ones, but it’s price is very appealing, just a one time fee of $39.99.
DMOZ – DMOZ, also known as The Open Directory Project (ODP), is a large, categorized directory of websites and pages, which is staffed by volunteers. Every website and page that is added to the directory has to be manually reviewed before it is included. DMOZ is the best place to get a listing, and it’s free too ! It has PageRank 8, strong internal pages with high PageRank, a lot of traffic, and Google’s own directory is completely based on DMOZ. The catch ? Getting a website listed in DMOZ can be very frustrating, as getting in can take a very long time. But you never know, give it a try !
