Taxonomy Images BETA  (2010-09-09)
Enables users to associate images in their Media Library to categories, tags and taxonomies. [read full description]

The Taxonomy Images plugin allows you to associate images from your Media Library to categories, tags and custom taxonomies. For usage instructions please view the screencast.

Displaying Images in a Page or Post

Version 0.4 introduces a new shortcode which will display a list of all active terms of a given taxonomy. This list features the term in a second level heading
<h2>
, the term description in a paragraph and an intermediate version of the uploaded image floated to the left. Here is the shortcode in it's simplist form:

[taxonomy_image_plugin]

This will display a list of all terms in the built-in "Category" taxonomy with desriptions and images (sized as "thumbnails").

If you would like to change the taxonomy, you can set the "taxonomy" argument:

[taxonomy_image_plugin taxonomy="post_tags"] or `[taxonomy_image_plugin taxonomy="my_custom_taxonomy_name"]`

You can also change the size of the image by setting the size attribute:

[taxonomy_image_plugin size="medium"] or ``[taxonomy_image_plugin size="detail"]``

Displaying Images in your Theme #1: Category, Tag + Custom Taxonomy archives

To display the images in your theme, you will want to use the following code in the appropriate theme file. The correct file will vary depending on your theme. category.php, tag.php, archive.php are a few file that this code will work in. Please see Template Hierarchy for more information.

<?php do_action( 'taxonomy_image_plugin_print_image_html', 'detail' ); ?>

Here we have passed to arguments to the WordPress core function do_action(). The first is
taxonomy_image_plugin_print_image_html
and should not be changed. The second represents the size of the image that you would like displayed. Acceptable values are:

detail

thumbnail

medium

large

fullsize

Displaying Images in your Theme #2: Category Thumbs

The following example was inspired by this thread in the WordPress.org Support Fourms. This code can be placed inside any theme template and will produce a string of links for every taxonomy that has an associated image.

$cats = get_categories();
foreach ( $cats as $c ) {
    $url = get_category_link( $c->term_id );
    $img = $taxonomy_images_plugin->get_image_html( 'detail', $c->term_taxonomy_id );
    if( !empty( $img ) )
        print '<a href="' . $url . '">' . $img . '</a>';
}

Dottoro Highlighter provides professional coloring for CSS, HTML, JavaScript and XML languages. [read full description]

Dottoro Highlighter plugin is based on the Dottoro Syntax Highlighter service that provides professional coloring for CSS, HTML, JavaScript and XML languages.
It supports highlighting CSS, JavaScript and XML blocks embedded into HTML documents, optionally selectable line numbering and buttons for copying and printing code snippets.
It performs a detailed lexical analysis on the source code and attaches different style classes for different language items, thus providing a very flexible way to modify the appearance of the highlighted code.

Using of the Dottoro Highlighter plugin is really simple. Just insert your code snippet in the Visual or HTML view, select it and press the Dr-Highlight button on the toolbar.
You don't need to embed your source code into an element (such as PRE), just select the whole source that you want to highlight and press the Dr-Highlight button.
Clicking on the Dr-Highlight button pops up a dialog box where you can specify the settings for the highlighted code.
If you need to modify the appearance of a previously highlighted code, click into it then click on the Dr-Highlight button on the toolbar.

The default settings for the Dottoro Highlighter plugin can be set on the preferences page.

WP-LatestPhotos  (2010-06-18)

WordPress plugin WP-LATESTPHOTOS

WP-LatestPhotos is a WordPress plugin which extends your media library and gives the ability to highlight some of your latest photos. [read full description]

WP-LatestPhotos is a WordPress plugin which extends your media library and gives the ability to highlight some of your latest photos. Selected images can be shown in your sidebar—or wherever you need them to be—through the shortcode or inline PHP code.

Features

Sidebar widget and shortcode support

Photo randomizer

Highly customizable through CSS. Plugin provides example CSS which can be used for demo purposes and can be switched off in the plugin settings. This way you can define your own CSS for your thumbnail galleries without being stuck with the excessive styles which most plugins come with, slowing down your website.

Plugin provides the ability to include Thickbox bundled with your WordPress installation but you also can switch it off and use any other external library. It supports: Thickbox, Fancybox, Lightbox, Shadowbox. If you would like to use any other media viewer you’re should install an appropriate plugin.

Thumbnails are located in the default image folder and named according to the WordPress convention.

No performance bottlenecks. Thumbnails are generated only once—when marked.

AJAXified thumbnail image cache gets rebuilt in case you change thumbnail size in the settings. Re-generating 10 images per request occurs with a little delay, so your server won’t be overloaded and scripts won’t stop working with a timeout error.

Usage

Use WP-LatestPhotos shortcode to add your photos to your post.

[WP-LatestPhotos limit="6"]

Also you can do it using these lines of PHP:

$options = array('limit' => 6, 'echo' => 1, 'link' => 'thickbox');
wp_latestphotos($options);

Options

limit
– number of images to display (6 by default)

id
– you can specify an ID for the unordered list of images

link
– one or more values that determine the URL of where a clicked image takes the user to

Possible values for link option are:

post_parent
– URL of the post to which the image is attached (it works only if image is actually attached, doh)

attachment
– attachment page URL (works only if page is attached to a post)

full
– full-size image URL

thickbox, fancybox, lightbox or shadowbox
– media viewer dependent link

empty value means no link

You can mix these values up too. For example, you can use a sequence like this: post_parent, thickbox. If an image is attached to some post it uses a link to this post, otherwise it uses a Thickbox-dependent link.

before, after
– additional HTML before and after an IMG tag of each photo

echo
– 0 or 1, automatically outputs generated HTML; useful when applying a function inside PHP templates

See the WP-LatestPhotos homepage for further information.

Author

Version

Requires WP version

WP-MalWatch  (2010-09-01)

WordPress plugin WP-MALWATCH

WP-MalWatch performs a nightly security scan of your WordPress blog looking for evidence of malware. [read full description]

WP-MalWatch is a WordPress security plugin scanner designed to help alert you when hackers have been at work inside your blog.

When hackers infiltrate a blog, the first thing they do is plant hidden files, disguised .PHP, and malicious .HTACCESS files in various
directores. Their goal is to litter your WordPress installation and theme with links to their sites.

WP-MalWatch performs a security scan of your WordPress installation nightly looking for evidence of foul play and if WP-MalWatch finds it, a dashboard widget will tell you were you should take a closer look. WP-MalWatch's detailed report also provides you a very easy interface for looking at the contents of these files right from within WordPress so you don't have to get into messy FTP clients and editors looking at potential problems.

Version 2.1.2 of WP-MalWatch is based on 2.0.2 which was a complete rewrite of the original WP-MalWatch plugin and provides efficient malware scanning. Version 2.1.2 looks for hidden files, HTACCESS files, configurable file patterns, keywords in theme files, encode 64 calls in key WordPress files, and .PHP files in the uploads directory.

Does WP-MalWatch protect your blog?

NO! WP-MalWatch is a scanning plugin that allows a blogger to easily identify the presence of files in a blog installation and provides a simple viewer for examining them.

If WP-MalWatch finds files in my blog, does it mean I have a problem?

Not necessarily but it does mean you need to take a look at them. The plugin has several links to explanations of what WP-MalWatch is looking for. Any file that WP-MalWatch reports, you should look at and be comfortable that it is there for a purpose.

Why PHP files in the uploads directory? Because they shouldn't be there and are clear evidence of foul play.

What are configurable file patterns?

Hackers love to drop multiple extension files into a blog hoping that you won't notice them. The default setting for WP-MalWatch are the file extension patterns for the somewhat clever "pharma attack". These include patterns like *.old.php and *.bak.php. You can configure these for whatever you are looking for.

Why .HTACCESS files? .HTACCESS files are specific for UNIX and you will generally have one at the root of your website. WordPress actually uses this file for things like Permalinks. Hackers love to drop .HTACCESS files into other parts of your WordPress installation to do malicious things such as implement 301 redirects to trick users or even search engines. Still, some plugins use .HTACCESS files for their functionality. That doesn't mean that a hacker can't get into those. If you have more than one .HTACCESS file in your installation, you'll want to take a look at it and ensure that there are no redirects to sites you aren't aware of.

Will WP-MalWatch scans impact the performance of my blog?

We tested WP-MalWatch on one of our blogs while there were over 2,000 active users online. We were impressed with its performance and the fact that it didn't impact server performance. If you see something different with your hosting, report it to us but we can assure you we paid close attention to the efficiency of scanning in this plugin.

If My Blog Is Clean, Should I leave WP-MalWatch installed?

YES! It only runs once per night and is very efficient. Leave this plugin installed. You can turn modules on/off as well.

ClixCorp Post Category Excluder for WordPress (2010-02-02)
Provides a row of checkboxes on the post edit screen to exclude them from archive, tag, search, home page, and logged in status. [read full description]

This plugin allows the author to exclude certain posts from archive,
tag, search and home page listings. Authors can also exclude posts to
appear ONLY to logged in users, thereby forcing membership. The
exclusion check boxes appear directly on the edit post page, no need to
access the program separately from the admin panel. This is what makes
the plugin better than some of the other excluder plugins out there.

The editing checkboxes on the post edit screen are:
    Disable listing on home page;
    Disable on tag listing;
    Disable listing in archives;
    Disable listing in search;
    Disable listing for users not Logged In;
    Disable but show available if Logged In.

The last two options allow hidden content to exist in the system, where it will be displayed if the user is logged in.
On these posts that are excluded from listing or display, the author can specify:
    (a.) Disable from listing if not logged in, or,
    (b.) Disable from listing if not logged in but let browser know it is there if they do log in.

In situation a, the post is not displayed (direct url will show a 404), and it is not listed in the menus,
(unless you have a different plugin/template scheme that will override wp filters).

In situation b, the post will be replaced with a customized message (admin->tools) like
'Sorry, this content is available to logged in users only'. The links to the protected content will be visible.

This plugin is designed to be customized by the end user. The code is simple and heavily documented, and
uses only WordPress functions. You should be using WP version 2.7 or greater for this plugin to work properly.

Author

Version

Requires WP version

You can require visitors to provide their name and email address to get a voucher. If an email address is required an email is sent to the address with a link to the voucher URL. Each voucher has a unique code, and vouchers that have an email address associated with them can only be used once, so once a registration-required voucher is downloaded it can't be downloaded again.

The plugin also makes use of the __() function to allow for easy translation.

Thanks to Christian Serron (http://twitter.com/cserron) for the code to make the vouchers work in widgets (currently disabled, I'm working on this) and to Barry (http://www.betakeygiveaway.com/) for bug testing above and beyond the call of duty.

Author

Version

Requires WP version
