List Category Posts allows you to list posts from a category into a post/page using the [catlist] shortcode.

The shortcode accepts a category name or id, the order in which you want the posts to display, and the number of posts to display. You can also display the post author, date, excerpt, custom field values, even the content! The [catlist] shortcode can be used as many times as needed with different arguments on each post/page.

New feature: The different elements to display con now be styled with CSS. you can define an HTML tag to wrap the element with, and a CSS class for this tag. Check Other Notes for usage.

Great to use WordPress as a CMS, and create pages with several categories posts.

It includes a widget which works pretty much the same as the plugin. Just add as many widgets as you want, and select all the available options from the Appearence > Widgets page.

Since version 0.18, this plugins does not work on servers with PHP 4. If you're still using PHP 4 on your webhost, you should consider upgrading to PHP 5. WordPress 3.1 will be the last version to support PHP 4, from 3.2 and forward, only PHP 5 will be supported. You can still download an older version of the plugin if you're using PHP 4.

This plugin adds a small form to every comment on your blog. The form is only added for admins and allows you to move comments to a different page and to fix comment threading.

This plugin is not designed for mass-moving of comments, rather for moving single comments from time to time. There are other plugins better suited for moving many comments at once.

The forms will be visible on every comment on your post/page, but not in the admin section. I found this more convenient than the existing solutions. There's also a widget included that allows you to turn the forms on and off in case you don't need them all the time.

Better tag cloud: I was pretty unhappy with the default WordPress tag cloud widget. This one is more powerful and offers a list HTML markup that is consistent with most other widgets.

Theme switch: I like to tweak my main theme that I use on a variety of blogs. If you have ever done this you know how annoying it can be to break things for visitors of your blog. This plugin allows you to use a different theme than the one used for your visitors when you are logged in.

Zero Conf Mail: Simple mail contact form, the way I like it. No ajax, no bloat. No configuration necessary, but possible.

Move WordPress comments: This plugin adds a small form to every comment on your blog. The form is only added for admins and allows you to move comments to a different post/page and to fix comment threading.

Delete Pending Comments: This is a plugin that lets you delete all pending comments at once. Useful for spam victims.

Subscribe2 provides a comprehensive subscription management and email notification system for WordPress blogs that sends email notifications to a list of subscribers when you publish new content to your blog.

Basic Usage

Once installed, the plugin will begin parsing your posts, bookmarks (AKA blogroll) and other content and looking for links. Depending on the size of your site this can take from a few minutes up to an hour or more. When parsing is complete, the plugin will start checking each link to see if it works. Again, how long this takes depends on how big your site is and how many links there are. You can monitor the progress and tweak various link checking options in Settings -> Link Checker.

The broken links, if any are found, will show up in a new tab of the WP admin panel - Tools -> Broken Links. A notification will also appear in the "Broken Link Checker" widget on the Dashboard. To save display space, you can keep the widget closed and configure it to expand automatically when problematic links are detected. E-mail notifications need to be enabled separately (in Settings -> Link Checker).

The "Broken Links" tab will by default display a list of broken links that have been detected so far. However, you can use the links on that page to view redirects or see a listing of all links - working or not - instead. You can also create new link filters by performing a search and clicking the "Create Custom Filter" button. For example, this can be used to create a filter that only shows comment links.

There are several actions associated with each link. They show up when you move your mouse over to one of the links listed the aforementioned tab -

• "Edit URL" lets you change the URL of that link. If the link is present in more than one place (e.g. both in a post and in the blogroll), all occurrences of that URL will be changed.
• "Unlink" removes the link but leaves the link text intact.
• "Not broken" lets you manually mark a "broken" link as working. This is useful if you know it was incorrectly detected as broken due to a network glitch or a bug. The marked link will still be checked periodically, but the plugin won't consider it broken unless it gets a new result.

You can also click on the contents of the "Status" or "Link Text" columns to get more info about the status of each link.

I didn't find any gallery which fulfilled my expectations. I don't need private pictures from flickr to be included to my block, as once included they are not private anymore. That's why I wanted to use the standard functionality of flickr to embed slideshows.

You can change the border, scrolling (yes/no), and width and height of the linked iframe under settings. I haven't found yet any parameter or hint to change the black background color. Please post me in case you have an advice and I'll change the coding accordingly. I might need some time to do so, as maintaing this plugin is a hobby only. The influence on the standard functionality of the flickr API is very limited. Adapting width and height of the iframe might result in artefacts which can't be influenced by any wrapper coding out of wordpress.

Imports well-formed static HTML files into WordPress. Requires PHP 5.

This plugin will import a directory of files as either pages or posts. You may specify the HTML tag (e.g. <body>, <div id="content">, or <td width="732">) or Dreamweaver template region (e.g. 'Main Content') containing the content you want to import.

If importing pages, the directory hierarchy will be preserved. Directories containing the specified file types will be imported as empty parent pages (or, if an index file is present, its contents will be used for the parent page). As files are imported, the resulting IDs, permalinks, and titles will be displayed. Big Update!

My Link Order has been out since WP 1.5 or 2.0 (2006) and it's been a struggle to keep it working smoothly. The taxonomy.php hack was hideous and a filter finally got added that let me avoid this. No more visiting the My Link Order page after every single Wordpress update!

For example, when a Digg user clicks through from Digg, they will see a message reminding them to digg your post if they like it. According to the Gravatar.com website, Gravatars are Globally Recognized Avatars, or an "avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites." This plugin is used to be able to create a page on your web site that will contain a list of all of the link categories that you have defined inside of the Links section of the Wordpress administration, along with all links defined in these categories. The user can select a sub-set of categories to be displayed or not displayed. Link Library also offers a mode where only one category is shown at a time, using AJAX or HTML Get queries to load other categories based on user input. It can display a search box and find results based on queries. It can also display a form to accept user submissions and allow the site administrator to moderate them before listing the new entries. Finally, it can generate an RSS feed for your link collection so that people can be aware of additions to your link library.

For links that carry RSS feed information, Link Library can display a preview of the latest feed items inline with the all links or in a separate preview window.

This plugin uses the filter method to add contents to the pages. It also contains a configuration page under the admin tools to be able to configure all outputs. This page allows for an unlimited number of different configurations to be created to display links on different pages of a Wordpress site.

WP-CodeBox provides clean syntax highlighting and AJAX advanced features for embedding source code within pages or posts. The external links plugin for WordPress lets you process outgoing links differently from internal links.

Under Settings / External Links, you can configure the plugin to:

• Process all outgoing links, rather than only those within your entries' content.
• Add an external link icon to outgoing links. You can use a class="no_icon" attribute on links to override this.
• Open outgoing links in new windows. Note that this can damage your visitor's trust towards your site in that they can think your site used a pop-under.

There have been many new good ideas of fighting automated Spam in WordPress. Most of these Plugins (like the antecessor of NoSpamNX: Yawasp) change the name of one (or more) of your comment field. On the one hand, this is indeed more effective, but on the other hand, this goes to the expense of compatibility. Therefore, NoSpamNX does not change any of your comment fields, but still claims to be very effective.

Many Antispam Plugins focus on user interaction, e.g. captcha or calculations to defend you against automated comment spambots. Some use JavaScript and/or Sessions. NoSpamNX intend to handle automated comment-spam-protection without these measures. It does not require JavaScript, Cookies or Sessions. It does not change any of your comment template fields, given you more compatibility with other WordPress- or Browser Plugins.

NoSpamNX automaticly adds additional formfields to your comment form, invisible to human users. If a spambot fills these fields blindly (which most of all spambots do), the comment will not be saved. You can decide if you want to block these spambots or mark them as spam. Furthermore, you can put common spam-phrases on a local Blacklist or (if you have multiple Blogs) on a global Blacklist. This comes very handy when fighting againt "handmade" Spam.

Make sure your theme loads comment_form in the Comment-Template (comments.php) according to the WordPress Codex - see http://is.gd/1lezf - otherwise NoSpamNX will not work properly!

The Auto Thickbox plugin for WordPress automatically enables thickbox on thumbnail images (i.e. opens the images in a fancy pop-up), through the use of WordPress' built-in thickbox library.

In the event you'd like to override this for an individual image, you can disable the behavior by adding the 'nothickbox' class to its anchor tag.

Thickbox Galleries

By default, the auto thickbox plugin will bind all images within a post into a single thickbox gallery. That is, next image and previous image links will appear so you can navigate from an image to the next.

The behavior is particularly interesting when you create galleries using WordPress' image uploader. Have the images link to the image file rather than the attachment's post, and you're done.

On occasion, you'll want to split a subset of images into a separate gallery. Auto Thickbox lets you do this as well: add an identical rel attribute to each anchor you'd like to group, and you're done.

(Note: To set the rel attribute using WordPress' image uploader, start by inserting the image into your post. Then, edit that image, browse its advanced settings, and set "Link Rel" in the Advanced Link Attributes.)

Thickbox Anything

Note that thickbox works on any link, not merely image links. To enable thickbox on an arbitrary link, set that link's class to thickbox.

In the event you want to disable thickbox on some links to images, assign it a nothickbox class.

Sometimes an RSS feed has a low bandwidth and during the page creation Wordpress has to wait after those RSS feeds had been downloaded. This plugin allows the site to read the RSS after the page was created, not during the process.

To show a Feed in a post use [lexi: configuration, rss, title, max_items] or lexiRSS($configuration, $rss, $title, $max_items).

The configuration number can be calculated as follows:

• Add 1 if you want to save it in cache.
• Add 2 if you want to show the content.
• Add 4 if you want to show the title (this is the channel link too).
• Add 8 if you want to open it in a new page.
• Add 16 if you want to not show the RSS icon (this is the RSS link too).
• Add 32 if you want to show the author.
• Add 64 if you want to show the date.
• Add 128 if you want to paginate the results.
• Add 256 to not show items title.
• Add 512 to show content in the reference title (usefull when using 3rd party rollover plugins).
• Add 1024 to use the internal function to truncate the content to the first complete paragraphs until having 400 letters. Only text, no images. See the FAQ for other truncate size.

If you want to use the title given by the RSS, use [lexi: configuration, rss, max_items] or lexiRSS($configuration, $rss, false, $max_items).

There is a button in the editor (the one with the RSS icon) created by the plugin to help you to add feeds in posts or pages.

Lexi detects if your site has the SimplePie library enabled. Since Wordpress 2.8 comes with it by default you don't need to activate anything, but in earlier versions you have to install the SimplePieCore Plugin to use it instead MagpieRSS. I recomend to use SimplePie. Remember to uninstall SimplePieCore if you are using Worpress 2.8 or any latter version.

This mailing list management plugin allows the visitors of your blog subscribe to your mailing list using a double opt-in method. The plugin sends an email with the subscription confirmation link to the user and if the user confirms the subscription, it sends a welcome email to each new subscriber. The details of new subscribers are saved to the internal WordPress database. You can manage the mailing list inside WordPress and export the list for the further use in your email marketing software. Sidebar-Login has both a widget and a template tag to allow you to have a login form in the sidebar of your wordpress powered blog.

WPBook enables users to add your (self-hosted, not wordpress.com) wordpress blog as a Facebook application. Facebook users will see your posts in a Facebook look and feel, and can leave comments with their Facebook identity.

Amazon Product In a Post Plugin is used to to quickly add a formatted Amazon Product/Item to a post or page by using just the Amazon product ASIN (also known as the ISBN-10).

What can you use it for? With this plugin you can:

• Add any Amazon product or item to an existing Post (or Page).
• Monetize your blog posts with custom Amazon Product and add your own Reviews, descriptions or any other thing you would normally want to add to a post - and still have the Amazon product there.
• Easily add only the items that are right for your site.
• Add the product to the TOP of the post content, the BOTTOM of the post content, or make the post content become part of the product layout (see screenshots for examples)

How it Works: The plugin uses the newly revised (and re-named) Amazon Product Advertising API. Older plugins that use Old API calls will no longer work as of 8/2009 because Amazon implemented a new security call procedure that makes many of them obsolete.

To use the plugin, you must have an Amazon Affiliate Account. You can sign up here if you do not have one - it is free and pretty easy to do. Shout Stream plugin is a plugin that embeds FFmp3 flash player OR mini Media Player OR Minicaster Flash player at your sidebar or at a page to connect to a stream (shoutcast or icecast) along with LIVE stats. It has also links for a popup windows for each stream so your readers could surf at your blog without stopping hearing the stream. From version 3 and above Shout Stream will use FFmp3 flash player. Minicaster and Media player are still supported but eventually they will be depreciated. FFmp3 is open source and avoids memory leaks by cleaning buffer in a seamless way. More info @ Shout Stream pages.

I was pretty annoyed with the default tag cloud widget. It does a lot of things wrong, like inconsistent HTML markup and hardcoded font sizes. So I wanted to write my own. Digging through the code I found out that the wordpress wp_tag_cloud() function is pretty powerful. In fact, it could do almost everyhing I want. So I abandoned my plan to rewrite everything from scratch and added a nice admin interface to my tag cloud widget.

This plugin makes the options for wp_tag_cloud() available to multiple tag cloud widgets and shortcodes. This means that you can easily choose things like custom taxonomies, font sizes, HTML markup and ordering. See the wp_tag_cloud() page for what the normal settings can do.

Additionally, it is possible to sort tags by count and alphabetically at the same time. It is also possible to add a counter to the tags, so that your visitors can see how many posts are associated with each tag. The plugin also adds a sensible CSS class to every tag.

It adds an option box to the edit section where you can specify the redirect location and type of redirect that you want, temporary, permanent, or meta. See below for additional features added.

• Redirect Location can be to another WordPress page/post or any other website with an external URL.
• Redirect can use a full URL path, the post or page ID, permalink or page-name (not available for Quick Redirects method).
• Option Screen to set global overrides like turning off all redirects at once, setting a global destination link, make all redirect open in a new window, etc.
• View a summary of all individual redirected pages/posts or custom post types that are currently set up.

This plugin is not compatible with WordPress versions less than 2.5. Requires PHP 5+.

PLEASE NOTE: A new page or post needs to be Published in order for the redirect to happen. It WILL work on a DRAFT Status Post/Page ONLY, and I mean ONLY, if the Post/Page has FIRST been Published and the re-saved as a Draft.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

• To include custom post types, check the setting on the main plugin option page.
• If you check the box for "Show Redirect URL below" on the edit page, please note that you MUST use the full URL in the Redirect URL box. If you do not, you may experience some odd links and 404 pages, as this option changes the Permalink for the page/post to the EXACT URL you enter in that field. (i.e., if you enter '2' in the field, it will redirect to 'http://2' which is not the same as 'http://yoursite.com/?p=2').
• If your browser tells you that your are in an infinite loop, check to make sure you do not have pages redirecting to another page that redirects back to the initial page. That WILL cause an infinite loop.
• If you are using the Quick 301 Redirects method to do your redirects, be sure that your Request URL starts with a / and is relative to the root (i.e., http://mysite.com/test/ would have /test/ in the request field).
• Links in page/post content and Permalinks will not open in a new window or add the rel=nofollow. That is because the theme template actually sets up the links by calling "the_permalink()" function so add these elements is not consistently possible so it has been excluded from the functionality.
• If your page or post is not redirecting, this is most likely because something else like the theme functions file or another plugin is outputting the header BEFORE the plugin can perform the redirect. This can be tested by turning off all plugins except the Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin and testing if the redirect works. 9 out of 10 times, a plugin or bad code is the culprit.
• We have tested the plugin in dozens of themes and alongside a whole lot more plugins. In our experience, (with exception to a few bugs) most of the time another plugin is the problem. If you do notice a problem, please let us know at plugins@fischercreativemedia.com - along with the WP version, theme you are using and plugins you have installed - and we will try to troubleshoot the problem.

The plug-in now delivers the much requested feature of allowing users to upload their own local avatar. And, the latest new feature allows your users to use their Twitter avatar. The order of precedence is; Local, Twitter, then Global. In other words; if you define a Local avatar for a user, that will be used, if there is no Local avatar defined and a Twitter ID is given for a user, the plugin will try to use that avatar. Lastly, where no Local avatar is defined and no Twitter ID is given (or Twitter doesn't return a match), a unique Global avatar (Gravatar) will be generated.

The plugin is great for theme development as you can tweak the template online without breaking stuff for visitors. You can also use it for presentations, to show off various templates. There is a widget and a theme cloud shortcode to make this easier.

This plugin has three basic configurations:

• Only admin: This is useful for theme developers and to preview themes on live sites.
• Only with passkey: Send your clients preview links. They won't need an account on your blog for this to work.
• Everybody: Theme switching for everybody.

Usage

The easiest way to use this plugin is to drag the widget into one of your sidebars.

There is as well the shortcode [nkthemeswitch]. Examples:

1. [nkthemeswitch] This displays the theme switch cloud as text links.
2. [nkthemeswitch mode="screenshot"] This displays the switch links with screenshots.
3. [nkthemeswitch mode="screenshot" addname="yes"] This displays the switch links with screenshots and the theme name.

Using the switch cloud in your theme

You can call the function nkthemeswitch_cloud() from your theme to get the theme switch cloud. Example:

Move WordPress comments: This plugin adds a small form to every comment on your blog. The form is only added for admins and allows you to move comments to a different post/page and to fix comment threading.

Delete Pending Comments: This is a plugin that lets you delete all pending comments at once. Useful for spam victims.

Snow and more: This one lets you see snowflakes, leaves, raindrops, balloons or custom images fall down or float upwards on your blog.

Want to help me with translation? It's easy!

1. Install Poedit.
2. Download codecolorer.pot file.
3. Click File/New catalog from .pot file and select codecolorer.pop you've just downloaded.
4. Enter project name (something like CodeColorer 0.9.9), your name and email address, select a language you want to translate to and click OK.
5. Enter a filename like codecolorer-en_EN and click Save.
6. Translate all strings one by one.
7. Send me a .po file with a translation to kpumuk@kpumuk.info. Do not forget a link to add to CodeColorer project home page.
8. Thank you!

To fix existing translation, just open corresponding .po file from codecolorer/languages folder in Poedit, and add missing or update existing strings.

This plugin caches every database query with given lifetime. It is much faster than other html caching plugins and uses less disk space for caching.

I think you've heard of WP-Cache or WP Super Cache, they are both top plugins for WordPress, which make your site faster and responsive. Forget about them - with DB Cache Reloaded your site will work much faster and will use less disk space for cached files. Your visitors will always get actual information in sidebars and server CPU loads will be as low as possible.

This plugin is a fork of a DB Cache plugin. Because his author did not updated its plugin to WordPress 2.8, I finally (after almost three months since release of WP 2.8) took his plugin and updated it so now it works with newest WordPress version. Additionally I fixed few bugs, cleaned up the code and make it more secure.

This plugin was tested with WordPress 2.8 and never. It may work with earlier versions too - I have not tested. If you perform such tests, let me know of the results.

If you are using WordPress 2.9, please use DB Cache Reloaded version 2.0 or never - versions 1.x are not compatible with WordPress 2.9.

If you are using WordPress 3.0, please use DB Cache Reloaded version 2.1 or never - earlier versions are not compatible with WordPress 3.0.

This plugin allows you to easily insert charts into your blog, by way of shortcodes. While multipurpose, the chart system is intended to make it easy for posting detailed review measurements of some sort, such as poll data, video card comparisons, sports scores, etc. You specify the names of the devices being measured, the tests performed, and each device's measurements for said test.

An admin settings page allows you to tailor many shortcode defaults, simplifying overall use.

The shortcode is supported on posts, pages, and in widgets.

Graphs scale to meet the size of the end-user client display, and support mobile displays such as those rendered by the wptouch plugin.

Charts supported are horizontal bar, stacked horizontal bar, vertical bar, stacked vertical bar, line graph, and pie. More can be added if desired.
